The choice of wooden beds is huge and there is a variety of styles and sizes to choose from. The price of a wooden bed can vary greatly, and usually comes down to the type and quality of the materials used. For example, luxury wooden beds made of oak and beech will be more expensive than pine wooden beds. Higher quality materials will last longer than cheaper wooden beds, making them more of an investment and the overall build tends to be more solid.
Many manufacturers of wooden beds now use a tough, durable, but cheap hardwood for the core of the bed, before adding a veneer to the outer wood, to create a more expensive looking frame. These beds usually have the look of a beech or oak bed, but are much cheaper. The thickness of the veneer used can also play a part in how expensive a wooden bed is. The thicker the veneer is, the more expensive the bed will be. A thinner veneer is more prone to cracking and tearing over time.
